Pet Urine & Odor Removal
in Pasco & Pinellas County

Pet Urine Is More Than Just a Surface Stain

Pet urine is not simply a spot on the carpet — it can penetrate deep into the carpet fibers, backing, padding, and even the subfloor. When not treated properly, urine can leave behind lingering odor problems that worsen over time.

Even urine that is several years old — in some cases up to 8 years old — can continue to produce odor, especially in humid climates like Florida. That’s because urine contains odor-causing bacteria. If those bacteria are not properly neutralized and extracted, the odor will remain.

Proper Detection Comes First

Before any cleaning begins, we perform a UV light inspection. Under ultraviolet light, compounds found in urine fluoresce, allowing us to accurately locate affected areas — including spots you may not see with the naked eye.

This ensures we treat only the areas that need it, instead of guessing or over-applying product.

Our Pet Urine Treatment Process

Once affected areas are identified, we apply our top-of-the-line pet urine and odor remover. This professional-grade solution is designed to break down urine contamination and target odor at its source — not simply mask it.

Urine contains bacteria that produce odor as they break down. The heat from our professional cleaning system helps disrupt these bacteria, while our extraction process removes contamination from deep within the carpet.

If a pet is on medication, the urine may be systemic and stronger in odor. In these cases, our goal remains the same — remove the urine contamination as thoroughly as possible.

When We Use the Water Claw

For larger urine spots or areas where urine has soaked into the padding, we use our Water Claw sub-surface extraction tool.

This specialized tool allows us to flush and extract contamination from beneath the carpet surface — reaching into the padding where odor often lingers. Flushing is critical because if urine remains deep in the pad, it can wick back up into the carpet during the drying process.

Wicking occurs when moisture trapped below the surface rises    back up as the carpet dries, bringing urine residue with it. That’s why deep extraction is so important.

For Smaller Spots: The Flash Spotter

For smaller spills and isolated spots, we use our Flash Spotter extraction tool. This allows for controlled flushing and powerful extraction without over-wetting the surrounding area.

Using the correct tool for the size and severity of the contamination helps prevent spreading and improves overall results.

Deep Cushion Flushing & Extraction for Pet Urine

When pet urine contamination is present in upholstery cushions, proper extraction is critical. If the cushions are removable, we utilize a specialized sub-surface extraction process. The cushion is carefully removed and placed inside a containment bag. We then apply our professional-grade pet urine and odor remover to fully saturate the affected area.

Once treated, the bag is sealed around our high-powered suction hose, creating controlled compression while extracting air, moisture, and cleaning solution from deep within the cushion core. This process allows us to remove as much contamination as possible from both the fabric and interior padding. It is extremely effective for treating urine that has penetrated beyond the surface.

When cushions are not removable, we use our Flash Spotter extraction tool. This allows for targeted flushing and powerful extraction directly through the upholstery fabric while controlling moisture and minimizing the risk of over-wetting.

For homeowners who would like to handle minor spot treatment between professional cleanings, we do offer our professional-grade pet urine and odor remover for purchase on the day of your appointment. This allows you to properly treat small accidents as they happen using a product designed to neutralize odor rather than simply mask it. While deep contamination requires professional extraction, having the correct solution on hand can help manage isolated spots until your next scheduled cleaning.

Many pet owners are surprised by how much urine can remain hidden in their carpet. That’s why every pet urine service begins with a thorough UV light inspection of all carpeted areas and any upholstered furniture being cleaned.

Under ultraviolet light, urine contamination becomes visible, allowing us to clearly identify affected areas and determine the most effective treatment plan for your home. If multiple spots are discovered in high-traffic areas, there’s a strong chance the contamination has been walked through and transferred to surrounding sections of carpet. In those cases, treating all areas being cleaned is often the best approach to ensure complete odor removal.

In other situations, a pet may have had only one accident or repeatedly targeted a single area. When that happens, we can focus treatment precisely where it’s needed.

We use a professional, industry-leading pet urine and odor remover designed to neutralize odor-causing molecules at the source. Proper odor removal isn’t about masking a smell — it requires breaking down the contamination itself.

Pet urine contamination is not something that should be ignored or lightly treated. When properly located, treated, flushed, and extracted, carpets and upholstery can often be restored and odors eliminated at the source. At Suds Up Carpet Cleaning, we use professional inspection methods, advanced extraction tools, and top-tier odor neutralizing solutions to ensure the job is done correctly the first time. If you suspect your pet has been having accidents, don’t wait for the odor to get worse.
